Residential Services
Various options exist to meet the unique needs of each individual:
- Group Living—Services are provided in agency-owned, accessible group homes with project based rent subsidies. Meals, transportation, and personal care assistance is provided by on-site staff.
- Individualized Living—Services are provided in individuals’ homes and include assistance with personal care, transportation, meal preparation, housekeeping, and shopping. Staff assistance can range from a few hours per week, to continuous around-the-clock staffing.
Day Services
- Facility-based—Services are provided at the agency center and include training in the acquisition and retention of adaptive skills, while at the same time providing relief to family caregivers.
- Community-based—Services provide access to and participation in typical activities and functions of community life, such as volunteer work, continuing education, civic club membership, and leisure activities.
- Employment-based—Services provide the ongoing supports needed so that individuals may acquire and maintain employment in the community. Examples of supports include vocational assessment, job development, stabilization, job coaching, and follow-along services.
Family Support Services |

Family Support - A funding/referral service to provide whatever supports, services, or equipment needed to enable individuals and their families to remain in their own homes and community. The Family Support Program utilizes formal programs and services, as well as the informal network of friends, neighbors, extended family, and others.
The primary focus is on supporting families with school-age and younger children with severe disabilities, adults with severe disabilities who choose to live with their families, and adults with severe disabilities who are residing in the community in an unsupported setting. Funds are allocated by the state to every county and are administered by agencies in each county. the Cerebral Palsy Center administers program funds for Knox County. Services can include, but are not limited to:

The
Family Support program is funded by state dollars and designed to
assist individuals with severe disabilities and their families to
remain together in their homes and communities. Severe disability
is defined as:
- Attributable to a mental or physical impairment. Likely to continue indefinitely.
- Result in substantial functional limitations in three or more
of the following major life activities:
- Self-careLearningMobilitySelf-directionCapacity for independent living
- Economic self-sufficiency
Services provided under the program are flexible and responsive
to families and their needs.An essential element of the Family Support program is family and
consumer involvement. Local councils have been established and
meet on a regular basis to oversee and provide advice on the distribution
